The regular meeting of the Winchester Historical Society of  Pleasant Valley scheduled for October 20, 1997 at 7:00 P.M. will be held at the church annex once again. Thanks to the efforts of Mr. and Mrs. Stokes of the church our meetings will be held there in the future. The annex is located at Taylor St. and Winchester Rd. across from the post office.
The historical society  would like to thank the Winchester Valley Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4379 for the use of their facilities for the past year.

         Re-roofing Fund Continues to Grow
Our fund to re-roof the Patterson House took a giant leap to the goal we set this last month. We received $250 in contributions which put us at $1,250. We also have a pledge we received from a former resident of $1000 as soon as we reach the $1880 mark. This will
give us the money we need to fix the roof. We would like to thank all those who have supported us in this endeavor. If you would like to help put us over the top please send your contributions to the Winchester Historical Society,  P.O. Box 69, Winchester, California 92596-0069.
Speakers and Displays Available
Attention school teachers, program chairpersons, or anyone interested. The historical society has available displays relating to Winchester and surrounding areas history. We can also provide you
with a speaker to tell you the communities history. You can contact
us at (909) 926-4039.

                          Historical Book Loaned to Society
The historical society was loaned a notary public book from the 1920 - 1930 era at our last meeting and a copy of it has been made. The book will be returned to it's owner at our next meeting. This book will allow us to know where people owned property and what kind of lifestyle they lived. If you have any pictures or manuscripts you think are historical we would love to borrow them. We make copies of them and return all originals.
